They gave women a voice in a male dominated industry and transformed the way the music world saw women forever. With the hit songs "Push It," "Tramp," "Shake Your Thang," "Shoop" and "Whatta Man," Salt-N-Pepa would defy everyone's expectations and catapult hip-hop to new levels.
Tone Lōc soared into pop stardom with the hit “Wild Thing” and his second single smash “Funky Cold Medina.” His album “Loc-ed After Dark” became the second rap release ever to top the pop charts and one of the most popular of all time. Lōc’s popularity grew with such notable film roles in “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” “Heat,” “Poetic Justice,” “Spy Hard” and “Blank Check.” He has also been in demand for TV guest spots including “Martin,” “Living Single” and “Touched By An Angel.”
Color Me Badd’s debut album “C.M.B.” sold over six million copies worldwide and became certified triple Platinum in the United States. They have five hit singles from “C.M.B” including “I Wanna Sex You Up,” “I Adore Mi Amor,” “All 4 Love” “Thinkin’ Back” and “Slow Motion.” Color Me Badd were awarded the Favorite Single R&B/Soul trophy at the 19th Annual American Music Awards. They have been nominated for six Grammys and won Best R&B/Soul Single and Song of the Year at the 6th Annual Soul Train Music Awards.
Rob Base shocked the rap world with monster smash hits “It Take Two” and “Joy and Pain.” He released his first solo album “The Incredible Base” with “Break of Dawn” to follow. From his second album came the hits “Symphony” and party anthem “Get Your Hands Up.” Rob Base has made appearances on “The Mo’Nique Show” and TV sitcom “The Game.” With millions of and millions of records sold, he is one of the most popular rap stars of all time and has fans all over the world.
Young MC He collaborated with Tone Loc on “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina” and stepped out on his own with the Top Ten smash hit “Bust a Move.” He won a Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Bust a Move” and its strong pop appeal helped the attendant album “Stone Cold Rhymin’” go Platinum. The follow-up, “Principal’s Office” was a humorous, everyday high school tale resembling a Chuck Berry plot and also climbed into the Top 40.
